Hey folks, here’s a thoughtful new post from our friend Ellen Rodgers! Thanks Ellen, for picking up some of my ample slack!
A Different World
Wow, I was just thinking how so much has changed since I drove out to the Pine Ridge Reservation in June of 2019. Our world is a different one, to say the least, and who would have known how different it would become?
I’m just so thankful I jumped at the chance to go out when I did, before the change and chaos of our times, as again it was an experience I will never forget and forever treasure in my heart. That experience showed me how we really should not worry or be anxious and if one feels it on their heart to do something, “just do it”, as the old Nike slogan says.
Now it seems there are needs everywhere and closer to home. There are so many people and organizations that need help and finances, even more so these days, local families who don’t have any income because businesses are shut down etc. I have to admit it’s hard to know who to give to or who to support? I’ve found that I like to change who I give to, so one organization I will give to for that month, then another person or organization the following month. For me that helps with the anxiety of wondering who or what I should give to. Spread the wealth, I guess is how I see it.
I guess I’m just writing this because Lloyd is busy with school now and doesn’t have the time to keep up with the blog, so I thought I’d give him a hand, so to speak, so we don’t forget about the people on Pine Ridge, to help all of us remember those precious children of God who live on the reservation and may need a little something from us every once in a while, from those who are fortunate enough to still be able to give, or even remember to just pray for them.
I hope to be able to go out again someday and bring my sister as that is what I was going to do this past June, before all hell broke loose. I was so looking forward to seeing everyone again. Who knows how long this pandemic will last, but I’m finding in this life nothing lasts forever except our kindness and love which will last throughout eternity.
And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.I Corinthians 13:13
God bless you all during this magical time of year.
